Have you ever been stuck starving at a fast food restaurant, but you really want to eat healthily? This is quite a common occurrence for anyone who is trying to diet, but still wants to hang out without being a nuisance when it comes to food! Believe it or not, for most fast food restaurants, there is a healthy alternative in there somewhere. In this article we’re going to give you the healthiest alternative for a few of the more common fast food branches. And we’re off!
By now, basically everyone knows what McDonalds is. If you mention fast food, McDonalds is often the first most basic thought that anyone has. The majority of food in McDonalds is high in carbohydrates, calories and sodium. The best alternative while eating in McDonalds is the grilled chicken sandwich. This sandwich has one the lowest levels of carbs and calories. The only things with lower calories are chicken nuggets, but let’s face it; six chicken nuggets isn’t going to cut it for most people! If you’re thirsty buy a bottle of water. I know it’s ridiculously expensive, but soft drinks have some many added sugars in them that they are almost worse than the burgers themselves!
Another common fast food restaurant, subway is one of the easier fast food chains to find something healthy in. Most would claim that subway in and of itself is healthy, but this just isn’t the case. The breads, meats, and sauces in subway add up, causing the sub to have high calories as well. The best alternative in subway is to order a six-inch turkey breast sub on 9-Grain Wheat with Swiss cheese, banana peppers, cucumbers, green peppers, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, avocado, and vinegar dressing. This combination of flavours not only tastes great, but has the lowest possible number of carbs in it! Again, water only!
Burger King has many amazing burgers in it; unfortunately most of these burgers are twice as bad as the ones in McDonalds! The best way to avoid carbs here is with the Burger King Veggie Burger. I know this may sound depressing for all you meat lovers out there, but it really is the only burger in Burger King that has a low level of carbs. The sodium level even in the veggie burger is still quite high, but on its own it shouldn’t be a problem. So long as you don’t order fries and soft drink with it, this burger will fit into your dietary schedule!
Most people don’t really eat at Starbucks, because they’re really renowned for their amazing coffee! However, if you find yourself there, then the option for you is the Protein Bistro Box. This box is unfortunately quite small, but it has less than half the carbs and calories of all other foods in Starbucks! On top of that, it’s actually quite healthy! So if you ever find yourself stuck in any of these places when you’re trying to diet, remember these things; but above all remember to avoid fries and soft drinks!
